In need of a beta reader

This is for a Suikoden fanfic. Ideally someone who has pretty good knowledge of the series as a whole. A lot comes from Suikoden III and the Gaiden games. If someone wanted to and didn't, the grammar and plot hole checks would be welcome.

Basically this is going to be a monster project. The first chapter is not finished yet but is over 12 pages long. I am suspecting at the end this will be a few hundred page, probably spanning over a couple years based on my schedule.

But basically I don't trust myself not to get lost. I tend to write on a whim and go with what is in my head. I don't want to be told the story is perfect but rather things I actually missed and any potential improvements. The pit of voles that is ff.net often gives plenty of praise for even the most mediocre of works.

I'd be so appreciative to anybody willing to do this. This is eating at my head and I want to get it out someday.

On the Drastic Move on avoiding Ouran Twincest

Someone messaged me on my Ouran story via fanfiction.net and asked why I put Hikaru and Haruhi together and 'ignored the brotherly love aspect that according to them is canon.

Last time I checked, the brotherly love thing was something devised for hosting and well... based on the show AND the manga there is a thing for Haruhi going on. And the person I think just misses the point in that, it is meant to offer something that goodness forbid is het and not smut.

I am of the firm believer that fanfiction is a form of writing that requires some resemblance of the original world or characters. And I personally enjoy the challenge of writing with a specific character in mind.

Does that mean that all twincet is out of character? Nope. You can certainly make a case for it if yaoi is your thing. Moreso than the Gundam Wing pairings and lots of others I rather not go into. But considering it seems that about half of the fanfiction for Ouran out there are the twins I like to do something different.

It is actually the Hikaru and Haruhi pairings that tend to be out of character. You often get depressed Kaoru despite he sees the potential in the manga and show and encourages it even if he knows what it entails for himself. I like the idea of if it ever happened (ie Haruhi not solo at the end or with Tamaki) that Kaoru might be slightly indecisive of his position but supportive. I think people forget often enough that Haruhi is his friend and who better to be with his older brother? Certainly not slit the wrists suicide attempts. Ouran is not an angstfest and should not become one.

Another common view with this pairing is Haruhi playing the role of the separator. Again she is the friend of both of them. And she knows exactly how codependent they are with one another. Heck she easily tells their differences and treats them both as individuals. Both twins are likely to make sure she spends time with both of them no matter what.

So yeah, no twincest for me thanks. I tend to not care about yaoi one way or the other and am not even much into smut. I won't stop anybody from writing it and if it is well executed then my hat goes off to the person even if it will not be my favorite. I don't personally write for reviews but because I had an idea in my head and thus won't cater to what people want to see just for the sake of pleasing people.
